1968 Daimler 250 V8 motor car, Registration Number TPH 975F. Chassis Number PIK2119BW , 2548ccs V8 with automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.
This solid looking example is consigned from a local owner who originally owned it over 40 years ago, sold it to his brother and then acquired it back on his demise, nearly 10 years ago. The now retired vendor was in the motor trade and originally took it as a cheap part exchange with a blown engine. The engine was rebuilt at that time, after which his brother took it on. We are informed that it had a bare metal respray after he died, although finish is not perfect in places. The interior is also very tired and whilst seeming to run nicely it will certainly benefit from further improvement and use.
Perceived less sporting than Jaguars MKII, nevertheless the small and light aluminium V8 gave good performance although did lack the Jags' torque. The car was replaced by the XJ6 version in 1968. Over 17,500 were produced.
